Launched in Tokyo in 1999 by Chitosé Abe, sacai has continued to update everyday wear into new forms, driven by a hybrid concept that combines different materials and structures starting from basic garments. Based on a neat long coat featuring deep, all-over check patterning, this item incorporates a glossy nylon padded section on the inside of the collar. By doing so, it brings together the contrasting identities of a traditional wool coat and sporty cold-weather outerwear into one cohesive piece.

The outer fabric is a blend of 80% wool, 15% nylon, and 5% cashmere. While it offers the warmth characteristic of check fabrics, it also delivers a pleasantly supple feel. It provides a strong presence as a long coat for autumn and winter, yet is finished with a balanced weight that is not overly heavy.

The large collar, shaped with gentle roundness, creates a natural volume around the neckline. Thanks to the contrast in texture with the glossy nylon padded material visible from within, the coat develops depth of expression even when viewed from the front. In addition, three-dimensional flap pockets are placed on both the left and right sides. While maintaining the overall structure of a classic coat, subtle, slightly unconventional details that are unmistakably sacai are carefully incorporated into the finer points.

Regarding the era: in addition to the product number, the composition—check fabric including wool and cashmere paired with padded nylon—strongly aligns with early-2010s men’s collections, when sacai actively fused British-style materials such as tweed with padded nylon.
