From tricot COMME des GARÇONS, which branched out from COMME des GARÇONS in 1981 and has gradually expanded its realm from knitwear to the construction of clothing itself and the expression of materials, we are pleased to introduce a standout piece that highlights TAE KURIHARA’s delicate decorative sensibility from the 2005 autumn–winter season.
Based on a neat black shirt, this piece creates a three-dimensional presence from what would otherwise be a flat shirt structure by attaching separate fabric gathered toward the left and right sides of the front panel and layering multiple laces in successive layers.

The decoration placed at the chest is not a simple frill. Instead, it links the vertical direction by irregularly layering lace with fine cut-out patterns and softly rippling fabrics, resulting in a design that suggests a classical dress shirt when viewed from the front, while revealing increasingly complex layers of materials up close.
Meanwhile, the collar is a sharp regular collar, and the sleeves also follow a straightforward structure with the decoration restrained—so the brilliance of the front remains well-balanced rather than excessive, preserving the light, everyday ease characteristic of tricot COMME des GARÇONS. The cuffs, given width, also lend a crisp look to the hands, and when the buttons are fastened, the tension of a shirt is beautifully emphasized.

The main body is made of 100% cotton, while the separate fabric is cupro, and the lace portions combine cotton, rayon, wool, and nylon. Even within the same black, the material composition creates subtle differences in how light is taken and the resulting textures. The fact that depth is created not through color but through differences in surface is a major appeal unique to this item.

The quality indication confirms the notation AD2005, validating that it is a piece from the 2005 autumn–winter season. In addition, TAE KURIHARA, who was working on tricot COMME des GARÇONS at the time, is especially skilled at translating feminine elements such as lace and frills into constructed garments. There is a definite added value in being able to appreciate it along with the background behind the design.
Rather than wearing the sweetness of its decoration as femininity, it is particularly recommended for those who want to incorporate it as a black shirt with a sense of tension. It is a standout piece that can naturally bring together decorative artistry and mode into everyday wear.

For styling, pair it with neat slacks or a long skirt so the front decoration can be the main attraction. It also works exceptionally well when you let only the lace peek out from inside a tailored jacket. And if you combine it with wide-leg pants, you can enjoy a genderless yet modern balance.
Please consider this opportunity.
