"HERMÈS"
70's-80's Equestrian detailed wool tailored jacket
Founded in 1837 as a harness workshop, HERMÈS continues the legacy of exceptional craftsmanship and refined aesthetic sensibility. We present a distinctive piece that captures the spirit of equestrian culture.
With understated tailoring at its core, this piece is distinguished by three pyramid-shaped front hardware pieces that shine like jewelry, complemented by triangular patches placed throughout for a polished yet distinctive presence.

The outer fabric features a material composition label indicating 100% wool, while the warm color tone—ranging from greige to taupe—creates a classic sense of depth. Through the gentle contrast between gold-toned hardware and brown-toned contrasting fabric, an elegance is expressed that never veers into anything overly flashy.
The piece is finished with a silhouette that elegantly defines the body: a structured shoulder with beautifully set shoulder lines, and a well-balanced shaping at the waist from vertical seam detailing. Designed in a short-to-mid length that sits around the upper hip area, it is easy to coordinate with bottoms and blends naturally into modern styling.
Triangle patches are placed on both the left and right flap pockets as well as the cuffs, and a round gold-toned hardware detail is set at the center of each. This creates an accent that evokes the functional beauty of harness-making hidden within the Maison’s heritage. It is a witty, unmistakably HERMÈS design that stands apart from traditional tailored jackets.

Inside, a charcoal-toned striped lining is used. According to the quality label, the composition is 98% acetate and 2% polyester, ensuring a smooth, comfortable feel with excellent slip-on wear. In addition, the red piping and stitching running along the inner side do not make a strong statement when worn; instead, they appear only when the jacket is removed—adding a subtle sense of satisfaction as proof of meticulous tailoring.

In addition to an angular HERMÈS PARIS woven label featuring a carriage motif, you can also find simple care instructions in French and English, as well as old-fashioned laundry symbols and specifications for the supporting materials. For these reasons, it is estimated to have been made from the 1970s to the mid-1980s, leaving a distinctly rare sense of period that differs from contemporary products—making it a truly exceptional vintage piece.
We especially recommend it for those who would like to enjoy the Maison’s history not through direct logos, but through the beauty of its tailoring, hardware, and interior finish. It is also a fitting choice for anyone who wishes to incorporate a hint of playfulness into an elegant jacket style. It offers both everyday practicality and the value of a collectible piece.
For styling, pairing it with black wide slacks or a neat long skirt will make the shape of the hardware stand out. Alternatively, wearing it with denim and a lightweight knit allows the look to feel light and effortless, transforming the substantial feel that is unique to vintage into an urban everyday outfit.

Please take this opportunity.
