From Y's, which continues to propose everyday wear rooted in Yohji Yamamoto’s approach to garment-making and its distinctive sense of construction, we present a standout piece with beautiful layered design.
With a high degree of freedom positioned somewhere between a dress and a long vest, this piece captures the movement of flowing fabric and places sculptural, dimensional shadows into the design.
The material is 100% cupro, a supple fabric. Its lightweight softness creates an elegant drape that extends into a long silhouette all the way near the hem, and together with the black color tone, where a restrained sheen appears depending on the angle of the light, it conveys a sense of lightness within a substantial presence.
The deep U-shaped openings on both the front and back and the wide armholes create room for an inner layer. On the front, you will find multi-tiered buttons, overlapping panels, and details reminiscent of pockets—so each time the fabric sways with your movements, you can enjoy a deep, expressive look.
Even with a roomy design that emphasizes vertical lines, the complex paneling and button placement naturally guide the viewer’s gaze. Rather than simply adding volume, Y's signature pattern-making shines through—shaping the silhouette by leveraging cupro’s fluidity.
