80s–90s Turtle motif enamel costume ring
Among French luxury, we introduce a distinctive piece with an iconic motif design, believed to be from CELINE—an emblem of poised elegance and refined playfulness.
The piece features a glossy black enamel-like shell and a three-dimensional turtle motif in a gold color layered together, creating a design that adds the sparkle unique to costume jewelry right to your fingertips.
On the shell, a lustrous black enamel-like decoration is used, and over it, geometric gold lines reminiscent of a blazon or the Macadam pattern run across the surface. This adds a neat rhythm characteristic of the Maison to the endearing turtle form, letting the ring stand out like a small objet d’art on the finger.
The gold-colored metal parts are carefully molded into three dimensions even down to the head and limbs. Combined with the rounded volume of the shell, the piece evokes an amiable, art-like charm even as it remains jewelry, while the contrast of black and gold further enhances the classic mood.
Although we cannot confirm the material description or included accessories, based on the images it appears to be costume jewelry pairing gold-colored plated metal with glossy enamel or resin-like embellishments. There is a stamp reading “5” on the inside of the ring. As for the period, the large animal motif, the flamboyant gold-plated finish, and the highly decorative form using enamel decoration all align with characteristics commonly seen in European vintage costume jewelry from around the 1980s to the 1990s. For that reason, we estimate this as a piece from that era.
