A high-performance activewear line launched by Ralph Lauren in 1998. The brand name “RLX” is derived from “Ralph Lauren Extreme,” combining advanced functionality suited to tennis, golf, and luxurious resort activities with Ralph Lauren’s signature refined, urban design. From serious sports settings to elevated one-mile wear for adults, the line continues to propose a modern sports lifestyle.
The standout feature of these swim shorts is their seersucker-style textile—an iconic hallmark of Ivy and preppy style. The refreshing blue-and-white striped pattern is embossed with a distinctive puckered texture (crêpe-like seersucker), and by reducing the area of fabric that touches the skin, they help maintain a consistently dry, comfortable feel.
The front is not an easy-pant design with a drawstring; instead, it features a slack-style construction with belt loops. The sides are finished with sharp slash pockets, and a pocket is placed on only the right hip, with a discreet rubberized “RLX” logo positioned above it. Inside, there is a soft-mesh inner lining (liner), making these shorts ideal not only as swimwear, but also as everyday wear.
