Late 80's–mid 90's classically tapered wool trousers
From BALENCIAGA PARIS, whose outstanding tailoring has left a lasting mark on fashion history up to the present day, we are pleased to present a refined piece.
Crafted in a dark charcoal-gray wool fabric close to black, with a restrained sheen and the subtle texture of the weave creating classic sartorial elegance—this piece also includes the careful internal specifications typical of menswear from the era.
The rise is designed slightly deep, and thanks to front tucks that allow moderate ease from the waist through the thighs, it forms a tapered straight silhouette that gradually converges toward the hem—combining a vintage-like calm with a sophisticated balance that also harmonizes effortlessly with modern styling.
The front features neat slanted pockets, while the back is fitted with welt pockets that preserve the character of the fabric. Inside the waistband, an ecru-colored waist facing is used, and the sturdy construction—supported by the hook-and-eye system (“天狗持ち”), buttons, and metal hooks—speaks to the craftsmanship unique to trousers that have been meticulously considered even in unseen details.
From the quality label, the outer fabric can be read as 100% wool. A smooth surface and the right amount of body keep the silhouette beautifully shaped, and the faint heather character visible in the depths of the dark tone creates a color with depth that never feels monotonous.
Because the quality label includes what appears to be records such as handling pictograms based on the former JIS, body-type notations under Japanese standards, and an approval number for quality-label submitters under the former system, it can be estimated to be a product from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s.
