We are pleased to introduce this striking vintage ring associated with the Spring 1996 collection—CHANEL, founded on the free elegance built by its founder Gabrielle Chanel, and in the era of Karl Lagerfeld, transforming traditional codes into bold jewelry.

Crafted using metal finished with deep, substantial gold plating, the wide band features a lattice-like cutout pattern throughout. The structure formed by multiple metal lines combined vertically and horizontally creates a sense of volume while also allowing for a pleasantly light, airy feel. When worn on the finger, it does not appear overly heavy, and by letting light pass through, it beautifully reveals three-dimensional shadows and highlights.

At the center, the Coco mark symbolizing CHANEL is rendered in three-dimensional form, standing out more vividly than anywhere else within the lattice-patterned band. Unlike a modern, smoothly refined interpretation of the logo, the gold surface retains slight waviness and a melted, cast-like feel, highlighting the craftsmanship characteristic of costume jewelry from that era. The appeal lies not only in the design on the surface, but also in the way reflections of light and shadow are incorporated as part of the aesthetic—truly a distinctive魅力 of CHANEL jewelry from the 1990s.

The lattice structure, which can also look like layered fine rings, creates a wide silhouette that envelops the finger while presenting different expressions from the front and sides. From the front, the brilliance centered on the Coco mark is especially prominent; when viewed from the side, the metal’s depth and open structure come through, and the impression shifts with the movement of the hand. Another significant value of this piece is that it does not simply place a motif flatly, but instead is crafted so that the ring itself feels like a small sculptural work.

On the underside of the ring, an oval oval plate—attached by soldering—is positioned, and the engravings CHANEL, 96, Coco mark, P, and MADE IN FRANCE can be confirmed. The plate itself has substantial, dimensional thickness, and information indicating the brand and manufacturing background is carefully engraved separately from the main body of the ring. It shows that CHANEL at the time designed the jewelry not merely as a product, but as a completed, unified piece. From the surface design to the engravings on the back and even the method of attaching the plate, you can clearly feel the intent behind it.

Regarding the date, the number 96 on the engraved plate indicates the year 1996, and P represents the spring collection period as the initial of “Printemps,” which means “spring” in French. In addition, considering the thick oval plate seen in the mid-1990s, the depth of the stamped font, the “MADE IN FRANCE” marking, the uneven gold texture created by cast metal, and the way the lattice-like cutout structure is integrated as one, this piece is best positioned as CHANEL costume jewelry from the spring of 1996—around 1995 to 1997, in particular.

At the time in 1996, Karl Lagerfeld served as CHANEL’s Creative Director, and in the jewelry division, Victoire de Castellane was active. While centering the design on the classic Coco mark, the sculptural form enhanced with lattice cutouts and cast dimensionality reflects both CHANEL’s sense of stature and the bold accessory expression typical of the 1990s. Rather than simply presenting the brand’s emblem as-is, it reimagines it through an architectural structure and sculptural volume—this originality of the era is clearly evident.

For this occasion, it is a special ring equipped with everything you would expect from a MOOD Special Collection: engravings that support the era, a French-made background, the design sensibility of the mid-1990s, and a strong sculptural beauty centered on the Coco mark. More than a daily accessory, it is a collection piece that allows you to feel the atmosphere of the times simply by keeping it on your hand. It is especially recommended for those who not only want to wear CHANEL’s logo and history, but also wish to enjoy it as a work of form.

For styling, it is lovely to make the ring the focal point with a tailored jacket, a tweed outer, or a simple shirt. Incorporating it into a neat pants look brings harmony between the men’s wear elements CHANEL has always cherished and the jewelry’s brilliance; pairing it with a dress or a long skirt adds an elegant presence to your hands. Regardless of gender, by keeping the overall outfit simple, the Coco mark and the character of vintage metal become unmistakably highlighted.

We invite you to seize this opportunity.
