A special piece from the “L’Arcane sans nom (The Nameless Arcana / The Death)” tarot collection, which was sold on April 15, 2017.

This highly archival piece captures the narrative of “Tarot,” first presented by Maria Grazia Chiuri in the early days of her tenure, translated into an everyday tool—the wallet bag.

Regarding the production date, the reverse side of the guarantee card still bears the date “15, Apr, 2017,” along with the Dior Shinsaibashi store stamp. This provides physical confirmation that the item was sold during the spring/summer period of 2017.

In addition, the foil-stamped specifications of the full name at the time—“Christian Dior / PARIS”—as well as the product code system (REF) are consistent with Dior’s product management in the late 2010s. The fact that the records and the design align without contradiction further enhances its credibility.

The body features an immaculate sheen of smooth calfskin leather as a base, with a striking three-dimensional motif layered through metallic embroidery and beads. The density of the silver thread and the arrangement of the beads carry the tension of meticulous, métier d’art craftsmanship.

The motif of “Death (The Nameless Arcana)” placed at the center is known as a symbol of endings and beginnings; its appeal lies in the fact that it functions not merely as decoration, but as a “storytelling design” that gives meaning to the passage of time for its owner.

The nuance of insects and decorative elements scattered around it can also be read as a reference to the astrological worldview that Monsieur Dior loved. It quietly conveys the atmosphere of the period when Chiuri was translating the Maison’s memories into the language of the present.
