Make your top the "main character of your innerwear" -- the aesthetics of shirts and knitwear that complement autumn and winter coats/jackets

An autumn/winter outfit isn't complete with just outerwear.

Your gaze ultimately reaches the "internal temperature" that appears at the collar, chest, and wrists. Shirts and knitwear are not simply innerwear; they are design elements that determine the shape and center of gravity of the outerwear.

Here, we will explain how to create a luxurious look from within, taking inspiration from the aesthetics of Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, VALENTINO, and ARMANI , and finally suggest some MOOD-inspired ideas.

Saint Laurent | Add a touch of sexiness to sharp bones

The key is shoulders and straight lines. Under a structured jacket or leather coat, wear a high-gauge silk-blend knit or a lustrous satin shirt. Leave the collar flat, not upright, and open the second button to create a "loose line." Even with black on black, creating layers with different materials (matt x gloss) will bring the Saint Laurent edge down to a more everyday temperature. On days when you're wearing heavy boots, keep the neck light and fold the sleeves wide. The contrast of tension and relaxation creates a "quiet sexiness."

Christian Dior | Breathable waist, elegant wrist

Consider a Bar jacket-like silhouette, with a soft, supportive interior. Choose a fine-gauge turtleneck, a tightly knit crewneck, or a shirt with a beautiful collar. Lightly tucking in the front of high-waisted bottoms and creating a "stop point" with a thin belt will accentuate the shape of the outerwear. Leave the shirt cuffs peeking out 1-1.5cm from the sleeve opening, and leave one button undone. The gesture of letting air into the wrist translates Dior's "form and decorum" into everyday life.

VALENTINO|A hint of couture through materials

The appeal lies in the wide collars, cape-like coats and strong colours. The interior is complemented by "small, quiet luxury". The knot of a silk crepe bow tie shirt is loosened, with the end of the tie falling parallel to the lapel of the outerwear. Alternatively, the colour can be subdued and a soft greige or ivory knit is used to create a drape. A strong coloured coat with a neutral interior, or the opposite, a quiet coat with a single, boldly coloured knit, both of which are conscious of the "dialogue between surfaces". The VALENTINO style does not speak with jewels or logos, but with a soft, flowing feel and sheen.

ARMANI|The voice behind “unconventional tailoring”

Pair unconstructed (less interlining) coats and jackets with breathable georgette shirts or high-gauge cashmere blends. Keep the collar open, but not too open, and the V-zone shallow. Use airy neutral colors such as taupe, stone, and ink navy. Maintain a straight line at the placket and hem, revealing the softness of the knit only at the wrists. Armani prides itself on not exaggerating the shoulders or chest, but instead leaving a lingering impression with flowing fabrics.

Four tips to bring the unreal into your everyday life

1) Tone it down: Loosen an excessive bow tie, or go from an extremely deep V to a shallow V. Mirror the proportions and reduce the intensity.

2) Thickness compatibility: thick coat x high gauge, thin jacket x mid-gauge. Creating a step will make the collar area look neat.

3) Center of gravity management: When wearing heavy shoes, make the area around your neck lighter, and when wearing light shoes, make the area around your neck denser. This helps direct your gaze in one direction.

4) Sleeve Story: 1.5cm of cuff exposed / rib folded over once. The "free space" at the wrist gives a sense of quality.

Just a little 5-minute finishing touch

・Steaming is effective even when used only on the collar, placket, and elbows (luxury and the ultimate in cleanliness)

・Walk/sit/take off/put on your coat in front of a mirror (is the arrangement consistent with movement?)

- Always customize the length to your specifications (the shirt hem and jacket hem should overlap by 1-2cm)

If you're buying more, it's a good idea to fill in the gaps

・High-gauge black turtleneck (interpretation available for all brand languages)

・White/ivory georgette shirt (inside catches the light)

・Thin metal belt (stops center of gravity)

- Single ear cuff (to prevent eye contact)

Putting it into MOOD

MOOD translates the vocabulary of the four brands above into "ratios": Saint Laurent's structure, Dior's decorum, Valentino's material poetry, and Armani's lack of it.

Once you've decided on the inside, the outside will automatically improve.

Luxury is not about logos, but about the experience created by inner quietness and minimal effort. Tomorrow's move will start with the placement of the collar, sleeves, and center of gravity.

MOOD will suggest these fine adjustments, even providing specific instructions on how to do it.
